Kirk Session
In common with the Presbyterian tradition the kirk session consists of the minister,
Rev Philip McKelvey, as the teaching Elder and 8 Ruling Elders. Together they have responsibility
for the spiritual oversight of the congregation. The are the foundation court of the church. Their
powers though significant are applied in prayer and with love, seeking to bring glory to God and to
to further his kingdom. This they seek to do through decision, discipline and example.
Their common zeal is or people, young and old, to come to know the hard and to assist their building
up in this knowledge and in his service. To this end their intention extend room from the congregation,
to the local community and world-wide through missionary interest.
At this time (June 2008) Mr Jim MacQueen acts as Clerk of Session and is our representative
(along with the Minister) at Presbytery and General Assembly. The Senior Elder, Mr Jacob Marshall
reached the grand age of 104 in February 2008. Although unable through frailty to attend meetings
of Session and Public Worship he remain faithful in prayer.
